Yesterday I hit a wall at about 2PM. I had a snack, but still the fatigue was apparent. Just a hard day, busy at work, not much time to declutter my mind until I got home.

The weather here has turned back to snowy…but not horrible. I’ll run in it and enjoy it as long as we are trending toward Spring. This weekend is Spring Forward, so I lose an hour of sleep…but it’s a sign of good things to come.

This Sunday is also my last Sunday shift at CTB! I have been opening for 8 months. 5:45AM each day, meaning a 4AM wake up and run, get to work, 8 hour shift, crash at 2PM. The only good thing about it was my sleep that night was glorious. I was dead.

After this weekend, I have a plan. On Saturday I’ll work at the gym until 12, have my meeting with my manager at Agava at 2PM and then head up to Rochester or my parents house for the night, then TRAIL TIME on Sunday! I cannot wait to actually do this! TRAILS I MISS YOU! I wonder how many times I’ll fall the first day…

I listened to the 10 Junk Miles podcast this morning while I did some strength work in the gym. The guest was Jamil Coury, who has been a favorite of mine for a few years now. The guy has great charisma and I used to watch his show religiously. Since I moved into my van, I don’t really watch anymore because I don’t have a great way to do that. However, I do keep up with him on Twitter and will most likely subscribe to his new podcast.

The conversation was almost 3 hours, and gave insight to his history, being an RD and his experience at Hardrock. Honestly, I’m really glad he didn’t talk about Barkley. I’m kind of over hearing about it. I respect it, but since the media has decided to capitalize on it, it’s lost some of the mystique.

Doing strength work this morning was humbling. I haven’t done it in a few weeks because I was tapering…and I don’t do anything outside of running and mobility when I’m in a taper. Getting back to the hills and the gym for a few weeks here hopefully will help prepare me for the trail race I’m doing at the end of the month. More on that after I speak to coach.

Breakfast: chocolate oatmeal with peanut butter and banana

  1. I’m loving these daily updates on what you’re doing Ellie; it’s fun to find new podcasts. Also, your oatmeal. Always. Goalz with all the nut butter.
